How does a router work

The internet has become a part of our daily routine life. Whether we work on a mobile, laptop, or smart TV we need a router for internet connection. A small box containing Wi-Fi is considered a router.

What is a router

Many of us will wonder how a small box called a Wi-Fi router works. A router is actually an intelligent traffic police because it connects you to the entire world.

A router receives a signal from the modem and distributes it throughout our house or office’s network. The difference between a Modem and a Router is that a Modem connects the internet line IPS and then the Router divides this internet among different devices.

How does a router work?

A router is a device that connects different devices to the internet. It works like a digital postman who reaches all packets at the right addresses. For example, whenever you open any website on a browser, the computer orders the data of that website from the internet. Firstly, this data comes to the router and then from the router to the devices.

A laptop or mobile is connected to the internet, and it gets a special IP Address through the router. Through an IP address device sends and receives data.

The Tenda router company has made it easy to update the firmware. After login your router click on sidebar administration.

A router has two parts: LAN and WAN. LAN (Local Area Network) controls the inner houses or offices’ network. WAN (Wide Area Network) works whenever you open a website, then send your request through the WAN on the internet.

Why is a good router mandatory?

A good router can make your internet good and improve your experience. Today, every home and office depends on the internet. Whether you are getting online classes, business meetings, watching movies, or gaming, your experience can not be fulfilled without a good router.

A good router provides good performance and speed, and it does not buffer videos. You can download it quickly. A cheap router can’t fulfill this requirement and can decrease your internet speed. Modern and powerful router, such as Tenda’s new models, keeps your connection and speed up your internet connection.

Different types of routers

There are different types of routers in the market, and every router works to fulfill a specific need.

Wireless Router: This is a famous and common use of a router, and it is mostly used in houses and offices. It works through Wi-Fi signals without an internet cable. Mobiles, laptops, and other devices can be connected easily. It is suitable for those who prefer to use it without a cable connection.

Wired Router: It is used in offices or institutions where there is a need for fast internet services. It is connected through an Ethernet router to a computer. Its goodness is because of its stability and security. It does not depend on wireless signals.

Core Router: A core router is mostly used in big institutions, data centers, and internet service providers. It is used on a large scale and divide the data into different networks.

Edge Router: It is considered the door of any network. It’s actually work is to send data in a protective way in and outside. The features of an edge router are data filtering and security control. It also supports VPS connections and traffic management.

Virtual Router: Virtual router is a modern concept and it is made for those companies who use cloud computing and data centers. This router does not have a physical device. It depends upon software which is installed on any server.

Why Understanding Router Working Is Important

Nowadays the internet has become a part of our lives. We use the internet in every field, whether it is our personal or business life. All this depends on a small device called a router that sends internet signals to different devices.

Better network performance: Many of us don’t know how to use a router properly.  If we learn it, we can make our internet speed fast and stable. You will know which band (2.4GHz or 5GHz) is better, or if Wi-Fi signals are weak.

Security and data protection: A router is not only an internet provider device, but it is also a first line of defense. By understanding routers, you can use password security, firewall in a better way. The right choice of router: if you have the capacity to understand it properly, then you can use it according to your own needs.
